"La Neige et le Sang" by Federico Prizzi in Literature - Tradition No 27 March 2004 page 33

"La Neige et le Sang", published by Editions de la Pensée Moderne in Paris in 1972, is a beautiful book, unusual in Italy, tells a war story that happened during the Second World War World. In libraries or used book on the stands if they are a lot of books, like this one, are written by soldiers and survivors of the toughest fighting that ended the war, often years later, he recounted the events. Then the reader will wonder why talk of this book? For two main reasons. First, for a writer, Paul Terlina young militant Rexist before the war, considered by Degrelle as one of the most faithful among the "old guard", will participate from the start, the first battles of the Legion Wallonie "between Don and the Dnieper. It will, in addition, with Degrelle and another soldier, the sole survivor at the end of the war, the first contingent of 1,200 volunteers who left the valleys Gare du Nord in Brussels on August 8, 1941. Enlisted as a volunteer simply ending the Second World War, with the rank of Oberscharführer (Marshal) of the Waffen-SS decorated with the Iron Cross and "Nahkampfspange" medal was awarded to those who had hired more than thirty melee combat. Terlina, therefore, is certainly one of the greatest connoisseurs of what was the problem of voluntarism and European valley under the banner of the Third Reich. Another reason why we must talk about this book is also because the facts recounted here deal with the volunteers of the 28th Division of the Waffen-SS who fought in the land of the Soviets. In Italy the only texts found on "Wallonie" are, above all, those of the Sentinel of Italy who has translated most of the books written by Leon Degrelle. These texts are, however, for those who want to deepen their Knowledge about these soldiers, the only point of view of their leader Leon Degrelle. Here, then, a book which, although limited to the fighting in the autumn and winter of 1943-44 in Ukraine and Estonia in the summer of 1944, provides more information on those dramatic months that saw hundreds of thousands of Europeans fight and die to defend Europe from Communism. The first part of "La neige et le sang" is dedicated by the author in the siege of Tcherkassy. At the end of November 1943, the Walloon Legion was incorporated in the Waffen-SS as SS Sturmbrigade "Wallonien, flanked Division" Wiking "Gille General to participate in the offensive for the reconquest of Kiev. The valleys are so entered in the eighth German Army in January del'44, oversees the flank of Army Group South to Bielaïa Tserkov, Cerkassy and Kirovograd. At SS Sturmbrigade "Wallonien" is assigned, in particular, face a total of seven miles, between the old village of Mochny, located near the forest of Tcherkassy and the great river Dnieper, and the village of Baibusy. The valleys are, therefore, in the easternmost point of the deployment of German. Are now subject to the incessant attacks of the Red Army in a few months that will be able to create a "pocket" of 45 km from north to south and 15 to 20 from west to east closing, so their pincer grip at 50 km behind the valley stations. Struggling in terrible conditions with the cold, mud, snow, without anti-tank weapons, attacked by the terrible Siberian infantry battalions supported also by the ferocious female soldiers, these fighters will guarantee for Europe, together with their comrades of the "Wiking", with enormous efforts, the retreat of more than 50 000 men closed in the "kessel" Tcherkassy that threatens to turn into a new Stalingrad. Belloserje, Starosselje, Derenkowe, Arbusino, Chanderowka, Nowo Bouda, Lissianka are all the stages of a bloody retreat, composed of continuous counter attacks and dynamic contrasts, which at the cost of huge losses, allow the men to reach the Reich Panzer Korps under General Manstein that Hitler sent to their aid. The odyssey of Tcherkassy, for the Axis forces, ending with 35,000 survivors and 18,000 people dead or missing. The price paid by the Walloons will be very high. Of the 2000 volunteers arrived at the front in November '43, well in 1400 will be the fallen, including the commander of the "Wallonie" Lucien Lippert. In the second part of the book, Terlina said, however, the events of another hot area of the Eastern Front, Estonia. In particular, the valleys of the Narva "Kampfgruppe Ruelle" are deployed, having marched in April 1944, among a cheering crowd in Charleroi and Brussels, together with new recruits of the SS Sturmbrigade "Wallonie". These new recruits will be that the young Marshal Terlina, one of the few surviving veterans of the Brigade must train, a few miles from the front in just 4 weeks. In the summer of 1944, the 3rd Armored Corps of the Waffen SS, commanded by Gruppenführer Steiner, keeps the industry from Narva in Estonia to Lake Peipus. The valleys are so side by side with volunteers from the Norwegian, Dutch, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, Flemish, and, together, to fight an enemy that now, victorious over most of its territory, aims to pursue Reich troops outside its borders. In an increasingly threatened by communism, the situation is dramatic: the civilian population, especially women and children, terrified by the atrocities of the "liberators" Soviet flees to Tallinn to take the last ships crossing the Baltic. To defend these poor people as well as volunteers of the Waffen-SS thousands of Estonian men, often devoid of ideological adherence to National Socialism, they fight only to defend their families. In an unequal battle, the author sees the repeated attacks die during most of those young enthusiasts, arruolatisi only to realize that dream that was Europe. And it is just as said that sacrifice is huge Terlina carried away by emotions unleashed by his ideal: "Far from our country without news of our family, without much hope of winning this war, but fanatically attached to our oath and our ideals, we are more ever sensitive to this camaraderie that unites all the volunteers of the Waffen-SS. From this Estonia, Far Eastern, including two battles, we live for something unique. We have won everything: our youth and our honor. We are determined to continue on this path freely chosen. Without concern for the blows of the enemy, of the tricks and reviews. We only import our comrades. We belong to the same world that has nothing in common with some small stones, those who think only of themselves, quietly awaiting the end of the war.. " A Noelle, 25 August 1944, Marshal Terlina was seriously wounded in combat: an enemy artillery shell of the net off his right arm and left hand. Maimed in body, but not in the spirit this young NCO, evacuated from the front of a hospital ship between immense suffering wait until the end of the war. Unfortunately, the end of the conflict for this veteran of the Waffen-SS does not also mean the end of deprivation.

In September 1945, after being transferred to various hospitals in the hope of get the prosthetics for his arms, is confined in the prison camp in Augsburg, Bavaria, which manages to escape! Captured will be prosecuted according to the judgments issued by the Nuremberg Tribunal that all the pictures of the Waffen-SS, at the rank of Oberscharführer, should be considered "war criminals". Confined in the concentration camp at Darmstadt, which is subjected to constant humiliation by his captors, mostly German immigrants from Portugal and Switzerland, will be released in August 1947 after a painful work of "denazification". Back in Belgium will be re-tried and convicted. On 2 April 1949, at age 28 and four years after the war, Paul Marshal Terlina senior SS Assault Brigade "Wallonie" Merxplas comes out of prison, ready to integrate into civilian life, but still on his lips his oath: "Mon honneur s'appelle Fidel. How To Fix A Dynamo On Bicycle

's clothes-symbol created by guests at the Women's Shelter of Olbia, translated from the words of Susan

Set in white dress
I collapsed jewel in the heart
groping and gasping in the mirror
where nothing I recognize.
Then I look down and the tape ...
spirals between violence and pain
to show me the way to escape
returns the woman I am.

Red is love, passion red,
but as the blood is red and the black pain
you
unbreakable chain that binds me kills the colors ... no more
rainbows
I advance a step
alone but with you two return back
prevented by the aftermath of slavery.

... heart and my dress is pure
are intact my dreams of wife and mother
then life moves forward and that your voice dirty
purple stain the essence
hours or my inclination to Love
destroying the woman who was
and that one day I would come back.

'ambiguity is the generation of "bi-curious"

change, hide, play with the ambiguity. Uncertain age boys who discover themselves, their sexuality, the body that changes, and experience more and more border territories. Not only "straight" then, but also "man" and especially "bisexual." They are between fourteen and eighteen years and are part of a movement that young-adult world of ambiguity has its own way of loving. The girls walk hand in hand, trying kisses and caresses, the boys stop to embrace more masculine but a more explicit time than many call themselves bisexual bi-curious, curious double, dress in androgynous style, inspired all'inquieto movement "Emo" meet and confide in a galaxy of sites and blogs where you tell their ambiguity.

a phenomenon so vast and said, as a collective outing , which for several months psychologists, sociologists, doctors (and also trend scouts) have put the phenomenon of bisexual teens under the magnifying glass. To find out if something has really changed in the sexuality of young people. Or do they simply stopped teenagers do not have to hide their sexual indeterminacy. In a recent study by the Institute of ortofonologia of Rome, it was estimated that between eleven and sixteen years, 35 percent of girls, and even 60 percent of the boys, approached or tried the homosexual experience.
But beyond the numbers, Francesca Sartori, professor of Sociology of Gender at the University of Trento, everything this is indicative of a "strong cultural change." "Adolescence is the age of omnipotence, of wanting to try everything. The novelty is that this generation seems to want to make their way to be an ambiguity, a flag

Besides these teenagers are the children of a society where traditional roles have fallen, where the confusion is strong, where fashion, taking advantage of their youth these trends, it offers pictures of adolescent males and females without breast hairless, almost indistinguishable. In my opinion though - adds Sartori - Is a chance to talk about bisexual youth, it is only avant-garde unconventional playing with these roles. And in a few years we will understand if it is "age effect" or real change. It is certain, however, that adolescents experience a new freedom, but also a new way not to be defined. "

Sigo The latest report of the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, indicates that adolescents have their first sexual experience between fourteen and sixteen. And it is then that the sexual experimentation embraces more roads and more forms. And where the school serves as a ground of knowledge. A theme to which Federico Batini, researcher of Education at the University of Perugia, dedicated Sexual identity at school. "Bisexuality in adolescence has always existed, but now no longer a taboo. But the real problem is that kids lack the tools to decode what's going on, know what sexuality they find on the Internet, often crude and unchecked. In the speech fails to address family and school do not talk at all. The truth - he concludes - is that there is a youth sexual literacy. "

It reads the spread of bisexuality among teenagers as a problem linked to the recognition of self Simonetta Putti, a psychologist and psychotherapist, curator an essay entitled to multiple entries: Chiron, the dynamics of gender identity. "The discomfort of life is now a popular figure among adolescents and young people. And if sexuality is no longer an area of prohibition by parents, is the area of affectivity and feeling to be in trouble, and increasingly "Tecnomedia" from the Internet, email, sms. And indeed, behind this crisis of gender identity, in my opinion there is a strong identity crisis of this generation "..

few moments to understand a mistake, the secret of feminine

that women are more empathetic than men is not a mystery. But that fails to recognize a mistake in 200 milliseconds is a discovery that is owed to the National Council for Research and the University of Milano-Bicocca. The secret is in the 'mirror neurons' that recognize inappropriate actions in a short time. And they do it because they work not allowing a communication language between the brains. In practice act in this way: if what you do is similar to what I could do myself, then I'm like you. And so, according to researchers, our choices not only obey the criteria of rationality. But, in some cases, depend on neural processes that are activated when we observe an action 'wrong' leading us, for example, not to imitate.

To understand a woman's ability to identify a man's first mistake the research team of Alice Mado Proverbio, University of Milano-Bicocca with Federica Riva and Alberto Zani Institute of Bioimaging and Molecular Physiology (IBFM) of the National Council Milan's research has the potential bioelectrical brain in humans in search of 'mirror neurons', already identified in monkey single cell recording.

the sample group were subjected hundreds of images depicting people while they perform an action belonging to the normal behavioral repertoire of the human being by putting them in conflict with no other purpose. Take a bath, write a recipe or toast paired with other the purpose is incomprehensible, like standing on one leg in the desert, sucking on a straw placed in the sump of a car or open an egg with an ax.

"Monitors - explains Mado Proverbio - was not asked to evaluate the appropriateness of the scenes, but to respond to the emergence of urban or natural landscape in order to avoid decision-making guided by subjective variables, such as ethics or morals. "According the results, published in Neuropsychologia, automatic recognition of images with purpose and distinction from those inappropriate happened in 170-200 milliseconds (ms) post-stimulus, especially in the female brain shows that faster processing. And in particular: "After about 450-600 ms is observed the peak of the negative response to the improbable and inappropriate gestures, with a connotation of this reaction more emotional than rational man and the woman."

"You know - explains the researcher Alice Mado Proverbio - who shares with purpose, like picking a fruit to eat, activate the 'mirror neurons' in a greater extent than less salient gestures, for example, to achieve a result without a pick, or pick it up and then throw it away. " And therefore the data suggest a greater female susceptibility to the actions inconsistent and provide new evidence of the existence of 'mirror neurons' in humans, as well as in primates, and their role in complex social behavior of imitation, learning and assessment of' appropriateness.

Good Tunning Am Circuit

My meeting with the Association of Women's Perspective Olbia

And here I am with you, coming back from Sardinia. I was contacted by the Women's Perspective as a writer of Olbia, in February, to help a wonderful event lasting two days, on 7 and 8 March, the rich and interesting program. In the days before the event, I visited a shelter for women in distress, victims of extreme situations and to cooperate with them to a writing workshop. In reality was not the writer but the woman to go into that house I like to call "The refuge of women." I wondered: if I were afraid, if you need help, do you feel, what impact would it? Sure, groped his empathy with a life so pure utopia is hard even for the most sensitive, but I tried anyway without presuming to succeed and with respectful humility.

cozy, quiet, so large and fragrant coffee, the house was soon animated the faces of strangers who opened the doors of their rooms to the new day, united by a look that seemed to send the same message: who is quest'intrusa ? A bit 'of natural fear, caution, mistrust why not. Then the awkward handshakes, smiles inviting you to smile, the words for some harder to find because of the language, and more for shyness. And children who do not know impact of guessing who they are sons of all, for all who care for them. It strikes me that being mothers straight to the heart of that child, and take care of him with quell'imboccarlo

... so naturally I spent the whole day with them in February, I sat at their table, I learned their names with which I the names are a mess, but it happened because those names will stick together in their history that I will not tell you because it is the story of many, too many women.

Instead, what I want to tell you that going into the house transforms us by visitors to different people, why are those terrible stories to enrich our own. What they have created women who have set up this structure moves me, moves me and the work of the volunteers who make it work. It is not just a roof or a bowl of soup, no. It is love for others, solidarity, is a real helping hand to help with reintegration, reconstruction after the devastating earthquakes of the soul and body. I've seen you cry the founders of this warm shelter, crying for what they consider unacceptable failures and alas can not sometimes be avoided. Because of women who lose their battle there are many, and many do not make it too big because the damage suffered. Others will not make it because of cultures different from our own, making them slaves of rules that we can not agree but we must understand that as part of their people, therefore, able to influence each of their choice, or indeed any action because their for them certainly is not about choices. But what makes me happy potervelo mean, there are also those make it, and not the few. We do it with houses like these, associations like this, and start again. I heard that, this time with them, phrases such as "Now I sleep quiet" and I felt anger, for all that had been taken away from them. I heard about addiction, an addiction by the dream of a family who becomes the first economic dependency, and emotional after the arrival of children. Because many of them, after abuse and violence at the time to say ENOUGH know that if they take away the children would not know that you feed them.

I saw women psychologically destroyed by more subtle plagiarism, the ones that are causing you to mentally convince yourself that you are worthless. And I saw the founding of this Association to teach them that low self-esteem can not and should not be a permanent condition.

Many of you will say "but why not just run away from what hurts so much?"

The change is almost unnatural to humans. The search for the unknown, of knowing - repeatable and predictable is what usually leads us to survive. It is difficult to anticipate the changing situations 'before'. It changes all the time "after". AFTER moods became uncontrollable because they are too strong, always extreme anger, despair, terror, pain. Then something breaks and you get to finally seek help.

In the house, as in any family, parent-association, not a little fatigue. There are moments of joy among the guests but also difficult balance, wonderful shares or extreme sensitivity, great friendships and competitions, with the fear of losing ground in a community where so much after you carve out a niche for themselves in which to breathe. And it is my great respect for those who juggles with indescribable humanity in all this.

On March 7, were read by two talented actors of short writings. I have coordinated, presented to the public with my thoughts, and introduced one of my fantasy story that was to translate, in part, what led them to knock on the door of the house. In part, yes, because we all know the reality of what is able to overcome the fantasy ...

As for the writings that have followed my story, some were a very small contribution of the volunteers who are part of the association, but everyone else was important evidence that the house guests have prepared. Behind the few simple lines of these women, who will guard the heart, there's trouble, there is the huge effort to talk about himself and show emotions after having lived a life of gags. An important step, a great liberating process, a strong and important act, the beginning of a reorganization, creating a space where no longer be heart failure. Suffering creates a terrible loss: separates us from others. Dominated by the pain we feel alien, but the House, the Women's Refuge Obia and many other cities, serves to from their midwife, making her born again and reconnecting with the world. There was life before, "we will be back" later. " Here is what is in the house and that's what we have heard them say thank you. Those through their writings, those brave women have shown at all, publicly, the space in which they have begun to exist.

Tranks And The Future Machine Doujin

March 8: The eight women. Two days together for women
